POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE-BASED MELT BLOWN NONWOVEN FABRIC AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To stably and efficiently obtain the title nonwoven fabric having excellent strength, thermal stability of shape, flexibility and good handle by subjecting a mixture of polyethylene terephthalate and a specific polymer to melt blowing under a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:A mixture composed of (A) 75-98wt.% polyethylene terephthalate and (B) 25-2wt.% polyolefinic polymer (preferably polypropylene or polymethylpentene) having no compatibility with the component A is subjected to melt blowing under 0.1-l kg/cm<2> blast air pressure to give the objective nonwoven fabric. Preferably the components A and B are uniformly and finely dispersed by a method of blending the component A with the component B in a pellet state and then kneading in a molten state. A blowing amount of the polymer based on single hole is preferably blowing 0.2-1g/minute.
