PURPOSE:To facilitate the perception of the vehicle head space with an advancing vehicle at the time of a large traffic volume, in a tunnel entrance part, and enhance the visually confirming property of an obstacle on a road at the time of a small traffic volume. CONSTITUTION:An entrance illumination formed of a first entrance illumination 1 consisting of a lighting equipment 8 having a followingly illuminating light distribution by which the daylight incident block about 10m from a tunnel entrance is lighted, and a second entrance illumination 3 consisting of a lighting equipment 9 having a bat wing light distribution which followingly illuminates the tunnel are lighted and extinguished by operating an illumination control part 6 according to the signals from a time traffic volume detecting device 5 and an outdoor luminance detecting device 4. At the time of a large traffic volume, the back of an advancing vehicle is efficiently illuminated by the first entrance illumination 2 to facilitate the perception of the vehicle head space, and at the time of a small traffic volume, both the road surface and the back of the advancing vehicle are efficiently illuminated by the second entrance illumination 3 to enhance the visually confirming property of the forward road. |
