PURPOSE:To increase the contrast of the liquid crystal display device disposed with an angle-of-view expanding plate on the front surface side of a liquid crystal display panel. CONSTITUTION:The angle-of-view expanding plate 5 formed by superposing many transparent thin films 21 consisting of an acrylic resin, etc., in the thickness direction thereof to a plate form is disposed on the front surface side of the liquid crystal display panel 1. The light reflected by the flank in the thickness direction of the transparent thin films 21 is emitted from the surface of the transparent thin films 21 as shown by an arrow of a solid line or dotted line and, therefore, the angle of field in the thickness direction of the transparent thin films 21 is relatively widened. Since the front surface and rear surface of the angle-of-view expanding plate 5 are flat, the refraction of the emitted light is prevented from varying with each picture element and therefore, the whitening of the image is prevented and the contrast is increased. |
