The multi-function printer receives different types of object, such as cheques, savings book, permits, licences and telex communications. The printer includes a print object transport or feed unit (3), a keyboard (4), electronic controller (5) and mains unit (6). A mechanical interlock (10) is provided for control of location. Built into the machine is an optical head (15) that enables optical character recognition to be made of printed information for location of specific positions on a document.
