A device comprises a sealed chamber holding a mounting for a radionuclide, a heater to at least partially vaporise the radionuclide so that the vapour is diffused in the chamber, and a valved duct to deliver vapour from the chamber. There is pref. a second valved duct to bleed air into the chamber as vapour is withdrawn. The radionuclide is pref. 99mtechnetium or 113m indium, and the vapour comprises technetium carbide, technetium oxide or technetium, with a further duct to deliver argon or neon as inert diluent to the chamber with air bled from the chamber as the diluent is delivered. The chamber pref. comprises a sleeve enclosed at the ends by a base and a cap, and the sleeve can be retained away from the base to facilitate removal and replacement of a radionuclide receptacle. The sleeve can pref. be heated to a temp. inhibiting deposition of radionuclide.
