Hinged mould for mfg. hollow chocolate - has two halves based on thermoplastic frame and thermoplastic mould inserts

A hinged mould consists of two halves, each consisting of a frame, a movable frame half and two exchangeable mould inserts, at least one of which has a recess which moulds the outer contour of half of a moulding and which cooperates with a recess in the mould insert of the other half, when the mould is closed, to enclose the moulding. The novelty is that (i) the frames and the mould inserts (5) are made of a thermoplastics; (ii) the mould inserts (5) are inserted perpendicularly to the frame planes and are enclosed by a pair of frame members, the inserts (5) and the frame members being provided with springs and counter-pieces which cooperate with the edges (18,19) of the mould inserts (5) and which act in the frame planes; and (iii) the mould inserts (5) have guide elements (26-29) which are located at their sides (9,10) associated with the other pair of frame members and which interfit when the mould is closed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The mould is used esp. in machines for producing hollow chocolate mouldings. It is made of a light inert plastics (e.g, polypropylene, polycarbonate or polyamide), which is easy to move and to clean, and allows use of mould inserts of various contoured depths for moulding various articles, e.g, figures and eggs.
