Underwater missile esp. torpedo - has rotating and target-seeking components mounted in centre or nose with 36 deg. coverage of targets recognised by successive scanning during contra-rotation
摘要
The cylindrical torpedo (1) propelled by an aft-mounted engine (2) has two roller-like components (3, 4) amidships which rotate in opposite directions, and are also pivotable about its longitudinal axis. These may be sonar devices or rocket-launching tubes. An alternative position for these components is in the nose of the missile where they may exert torques tending to cause it to keel over. They may be motor-driven and sepd. by protective walls orthogonal to the axis. ADVANTAGE - Missile can locate and attack hostile objects at wide angles to its longitudinal axis.
