The window sill (2) is formed from an extruded section which has an upturned flange (4) at its inner end and a downturned flange (4) at its outer end. The window sill (2) extends over the width of the fixed window frame (3) and its ends are sealed by a second type of extruded section (21). The second extruded section (21) is generally of U shaped cross-section with a double flange (26, 27) on one side. The section (21) fits over each end of the window sill (2) with the double flange (26, 27) fitting over the flange of a third section which is fitted underneath the window sill.
