A method and composition for the control of tartar and brushite formation in the mouth is disclosed based upon the use of mixtures of particular phosphopeptides with a water-soluble polyphosphate salt and/or a water-soluble zinc salt. The phosphopeptides comprise 5 to 30 aminoacids, and include the aminoacid sequence A-B-C-D-E, wherein A, B, C, D and E are each independently phosphoserine, phosphothreonine, phosphotyrosine, phosphohistidine, glutamate and aspartate. Mixtures of the phosphopeptides with alkalimetal pyrophosphates and/or zinc citrate have been found to be particularly useful for tartar control.
|
