PURPOSE:To decide the composition of objects and to take a correctly focused picture by measuring a distance to the object positioned at the shortest distance from a camera and deciding the movement quantity of a photographing lens from the result of measurement. CONSTITUTION:Distance information corresponding to the object positioned at the shortest distance is stored based on light receiving outputs along the base line length direction of a light receiving and the photographing lens is focused on the object based on the stored information. Namely, it is assumed that an object X is positioned the nearest to the camera, an object Z is positioned further than the object X from the camera, and the object Y is positioned in the middle of the objects X and Y. Assuming that the objects X-Z are properly separated in a horizontal direction, reflecting light from the object X is received by a photodetector 6c, that from the object Y is received by a photodetector 6b, and that from the object Z is received by a photodetector 6a. At this time, only an output terminal 25 becomes at a high level, and the photographing lens 10 is delivered by a lens driving part 13 by a second delivering quantity corresponding to the photodetector 6c. Thus, a well focused picture can be always taken regardless of the comparative positional relation of a main object to the remaining objects. |
