PURPOSE:To perform the cleaning of the end surface of a nozzle without generating clogging and exerting adverse effect on ink. CONSTITUTION:The ink pressurized by a pump is supplied to a capillary 11 through an ink tube not shown in a drawing and meniscus is formed by the surface tension of ink as shown by a drawing (A). When the pressurization of the ink is further continued, the ink becomes a bridge state in the gap between the end surface 17 of the nozzle of a printing head and the capillary 11 as shown by a drawing (B). When the pump is stopped in this state and the capillary 11 is moved in the direction shown by an arrow along the end surface 17 of the nozzle, the fine ink droplet bonded to the end surface of the nozzle is absorbed into the ink brought to the bridge state and recovered in the capillary 11 when the capillary 11 is separated from the printing head. |
