PURPOSE:To easily input the KANJI (Chinese character) whose pronunciation and a radical name are not known by providing a control part which extracts and outputs the character that matches with retrieval conditions from a character dictionary part when it receives a command signal of retrieval conditions consisting of the stroke numbers of a radical of a character, position of a radical and an over all stroke numbers. CONSTITUTION:A control part 15 which receives a command signal about the stroke numbers of a radical of a KANJI to be inputted the position of a radical which indicates which part of the character construction is occupied by that radical and over all stroke numbers from an input part 5, and retrieves and outputs the KANJI conforms with these three conditions from a character dictionary part 16 and a display part 13 which displays the output of the control part 15 are provided. When a radical input key is pressed after completion of inputting retrieval conditions, candidate KANJIs corresponding to the retrieval conditions are displayed on the display part 13. When, after the number of desired KANJI is found among displayed candidate KANJIs, the right number is inputted by using a numerical key, the inputted KANJI corresponding to the number is confirmed. |
