PURPOSE:To simplify the construction of an exchange unit and a main device unit and to allow meticulous and optimum printing control by providing a non-volatile memory which records the characteristics and consumption of the exchange unit on the rotating or linearly moving member on the exchange unit. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer 22 is applied on the flank of a photosensitive body driving gear 21 for driving a photosensitive body 1 as the non-volatile memory medium on the exchange unit. The developing characteristics of a developing device 4, the sensitivity of the photosensitive body 1 and the light emission quantity of an eraser are recorded as the characteristic information of the exchange unit on the magnetic layer 22 at the time of shipping the exchange unit. The number of printed copies is recorded as the information on the consumption on the magnetic layer 22. The memory medium is constituted on the rotating or linearly moving member of the exchange unit in such a manner, by which the information quantity is increased. Consequently, the common use of the memory means for recording the characteristics and recording the consumption of the exchange unit which are heretofore separately provided with one memory medium is possible and the common use of most of the interface between the exchange unit and the main unit is possible as well. |
