PURPOSE:To produce a phosphorus-free lubricant composition having excellent abrasion resistance, extreme-pressure resistance, abrasion characteristics, oxidation resistance and coking resistance and useful for automotive internal combustion engines, etc., by adding a specific dithiocarbamic acid metal salt and an oil-soluble amine compound to a lubricant base oil. CONSTITUTION:A lubricant base oil is mixed with a dithiocarbamic acid metal salt (e.g. diethyldithiocarbamic acid zinc salt) of the formula (M is zinc, copper, nickel, iron, cadmium, silver, lead antimony, tin or bismuth; R1 to R4 are 1-13C oleophilic group, the average carbon number of the four lipophilic groups being 1-4) and an oil-soluble amine compound (e.g. cinnamic imide) at 120 deg.C for 5min with heating and stirring to provide the objective lubricant oil composition in which the metal salt and the compound are perfectly dissolved in the base oil. The dithiocarbamic acid metal salt of the formula is synthesized by reacting a dialkylamine with carbon disulfide in the presence of an alkali and subsequently reacting the reactional product with a metal nitrate, etc. |
