A safety guard on the feed side of calenders or other roller machinery has a support which when mounted in operation has a fixed position parallel to the roller gap; it has also two members extending almost to the rollers and subdivided longitudinally into a number of sections. The two members are attached to the support; together they and the support can be moved at right angles to the roller gap; and a pressure-free arrangement holds the members at a set position in relation to the gap. ADVANTAGE - The safety device can be used with heated rollers (unlike existing types).
