PURPOSE: To accurately display small characters by discriminating collision between runs of two pictures and executing the correcting operation to eliminate collision while keeping the completeness of a character. CONSTITUTION: In the method where a character is described by one or plural paths and is displayed on a raster device, intersections where paths cross horizontal picture element center lines are discriminated, and intersections are paired in the order of scanning lines. Runs of picture elements are discriminated in accordabce with pairs of intersections. For example, a pair of intersections 114 and 103 have two pairs of intersections. When traced in the order of paths, the pair of intersections 114 and 103 have two adjacent pairs of intersections 101, 102, 104, and 113. Collision is discriminated between two runs of picture elements, and the correcting operation is executed to eliminate the collision while keeping the completeness of the character. The most general correcting operation eliminates one or more picture elements related to collision. |
