Process and device for introducing, in the form of a fusible wire, a processing additive into a molten material. According to the process in accordance with the invention the fusible wire (60) is introduced directly into a flow of molten material (30) between a casting container (20) and a runner well (43) of a mould (40), substantially below the level (A) of material (30) present in the casting container (20). The invention applies to the treatment of liquid or molten casting materials, for example to the introduction of magnesium into a melt for producing components by metal casting. <IMAGE>
