Delivering cutting fluid in grinding operations - has velocity of cutting fluid leaving nozzle adjusted equal to peripheral speed of grinding wheel
摘要
The method of delivering cutting fluid is applicable to a wide range of grinding operations where the fluid is pumped through a nozzle directed at the contact region between the grinding wheel and work. Specifically, the velocity of the fluid leaving the nozzle is adjusted to be equal to the peripheral speed of the grinding wheel. Turbulent flow is then replaced by a controlled laminar flow of the cutting fluid to the work surface. Adjustment of the cutting fluid velocity may be achieved by using a constant flow rate with a variable nozzle orifice, or by varying the flow rate through a constant nozzle orifice. USE/ADVANTAGE - Better grinding action. Incidence of burn marks and other surface defects is reduced
