The method involves guiding a medical instrument (20) from an input point (5) to a target point of a hollow organ (1`) of an examination object (2) e.g. human body or patient. A three-dimensional image data set of a section of the hollow organ is determined and spatially represented, where the section of the hollow organ exhibits the input point and/or the target point. The input point and/or the target point is marked in the spatial representation of the hollow organ section of the examination object by a medical personnel.
