<p>A method of identifying an article is disclosed. The method includes the step of providing an identification system on an article, the system including two electrically responsive tracks (22, 24), each track (22, 24) defining an interrogation terminal (30, 32), a plurality of subtracts (34) extending between the tracks (22, 24), and subtrack connectors (36) for selectively connecting one of the subtracks (34) between the tracks (22, 24). Identifying units are associated with particular values of an electrical characteristic measurable across the terminals (30, 32), the electrical characteristic values depending on the particular subtrack (34) connecting the tracks (22, 24). The subtrack connector (36) is configured to connect a selected subtrack (34a) between the tracks (22, 24) and if an electrical signal is applied across the interrogation terminals (30, 32) to measure this electrical characteristic the identifying unit associated with the measured value of the electrical characteristic may be determined. <IMAGE></p> |
