PURPOSE:To provide a molded optical device, such as a frameless light-emitting device, photodetector, or reflective photointerruptor, which is contained in a solid case with metal-plated wiring and has a flat or raised mold surface. CONSTITUTION:A light-emitting device includes a plastic case 2 having a recess 2' for receiving a light-emitting chip 3, and the opening of the recess is coated with a material 8 that repels a molding resin 6. The recess is filled with the molding resin up to or above the level of the opening. The molding resin 6 is an epoxy resin, while the coating material 8 is a silicone resin. |
