<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a metallic thin film type magnetic recording medium excellent in weather resistance, traveling property (such as wear resistance sliding property) and electromagnetic conversion characteristic. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of a chain or cyclic silicone compound expressed by the formula (R<1>HSiO)a(R<2>R<3>SiO)b(R<4>R<5>R<6>SiO1/2)c is brought into contact with a protective material provided on a ferromagnetic metallic thin film, provided on a non-magnetic supporting body, or on the ferromagnetic thin film in a vapor phase to provide a polymer of the silicone compound. In the formula, each of R<1>-R<6> is hydrogen atom or hydrocarbon group, where R<1>-R<3> are not simultaneously hydrogen atom and each of a and b is an integer of >=0 and if c is 0, the silicone compound is cyclic, if c is 2, the silicone is chain. And if c is 0, a +b is an integer of >=3.</p> |
