PURPOSE:To automatically adjust image forming conditions for the specified color area and the area other than the specified color area of an image to appropriate conditions respectively and to properly reproduce the image in the respective areas. CONSTITUTION:A signal from the image pickup element of a read optical system is converted into digital information by an A/D converter, and binarized, recognized in terms of color and stored in a memory. It is transmitted to a shift register from the memory every line in main and stub scanning directions, respectively, and pattern-processed. Since a fixed pattern (repetition of 1, 0, 0, 0) is obtained at equal intervals in both of the main and sub scanning directions in the case that ruled lines exist horizontally and vertically like a section, the area (a) of the section is decided in the respective main and sub scanning directions and fixed by encoding the information with reference to the area where the repetition is continued. Then, the image forming condition of the area (a) is controlled to be changed to the image forming condition in which at least one or more of an electrostatic charging amount, exposure and developing bias are changed with reference to the image forming condition for the area (b), and the image is formed. |
