Total organic carbon measurement in sample - using carbon di:oxide-permeable film for inorganic carbon removal
摘要
(A) Appts. for measuring the total organic carbon content in a sample has (i) an inorganic carbon removal part (12) in which an acidified sample soln. of pH max. 4 is contacted with an alkalised sample soln. of pH at least 9 through a CO2-permeable film; and (ii) a detector part (28) which receives the acidified sample soln., after inorganic carbon removal, for determining the total carbon content in the soln. Pref. the CO2-permeable film has continuous pores and consists of one or more of PTFE, silicone rubber, cellulose acetate and polyethylene. (B) A total organic carbon measuring process is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. is used to measure total organic carbon in a water sample. The inorganic carbon removal method avoids loss of free organic carbon components.
