The container pickups have fork holders (33) engaging underneath the neck collar (31) of the container (32), and a drive (11) introducing a rotary movement from above from the top of the container. The fork holders (33) are pref. vertically fixed on the container pickups. The pickups can be a tension head (8) with pistons (19) which sit on the container mouth and press the neck collar (31) against the forked holder (33). The tension head is pref. a pneumatically operated piston cylinder unit (18, 19) whose piston has a rubber elastic centring element (28) seizing the container neck. USE/ADVANTAGE - Labelling machine for various types of bottles. The upper drive mechanism is not contaminated by overflowing liquids or cleaning fluids.
