<p>A lock assembly has a lock body (2) and a flexible key (3). The lock body (2) includes at least two plug pieces (21, 22, 27, 28) having confronting faces (211, 221) with longitudinal curved grooves, and forming a cylindrical plug. The curved grooves are complementary so as to form a longitudinal curved keyway with a cross-section that is shaped to have an upright first portion (216, 226) and a cross-wise second portion (217, 227). A first set of tumbler members is provided on the cylindrical plug and extends in the direction of the upright first portion (216, 226). A second set of tumbler members is provided on the cylindrical plug and extends in the direction of the cross-wise second portion (217, 227). The flexible key (3) is adapted to be received in the curved keyway and is useful for actuating the tumbler members. The flexible key (3) includes a chain of successively hinged knuckles (331, 331'). Some of the knuckles (331, 331') incorporate a first set of key bit projections (3311) which extend in the direction of the upright first portion (216, 226) of the curved keyway so as to actuate the first set of tumbler members. Some of the knuckles (331, 331') incorporate a second set of key bit projections (3312) which extend in the direction of the cross-wise second portion (217, 227) of the curved keyway so as to actuate the second set of tumbler members. <IMAGE></p> |
