A device for collecting and clarifying water that is contaminated with hydrocarbons. The device essentially consists of a contaminated water collecting tank (2), a clarifying tank (3) and a recovery tank (4). Several slanted separating plates (5) are arranged within the clarifying tank (3), each consisting of a layer of cells (6) which are produced by extruding a thermoplastic material.
