Pneumatic cylinder (1) comprising a hollow cylindrical body (2) provided with at least two compartments (3, 4) axially side by side in which there slide axially pistons (7, 8), and with an inlet orifice (5) for air under pressure. The pistons are simply in abutting axial contact with one another. The air chambers (12, 13) delimited by the pistons (7, 8) in their respective compartments (3, 4) communicate permanently with each other. Use of the pneumatic cylinder for driving "in terms of flow rate" for the purpose of controlling a vehicle multi-plate (multi-disc) clutch. <IMAGE>
