The portable power tool has a shaft (1) with toolholder, and a power drive mechanism, pref. with an electric motor (5). It can provide a rotary and a reciprocating translatory movement with the shaft lockable in the longitudinal direction, or to gen-erate hammer blows, as selected. It can also be rotated, or locked to prevent rotation.
