Domestic oven switch assembly - has components fitted to inner side of the cover with thermal insulation against the appliance

The switch assembly for a domestic oven carries the conductors (2) and electrical switch units (3) on the inner side (1') of the switch cover (1). A thermal insulation (5) is between the domestic appliance (4) and the interior of the switch unit. The space (5') between the cover and the thermal insulation (5) is ventilated. The electrical conductors (2) are heat embossed to the rear side (1') of the cover (1). The oven of the domestic appliance (4) generates a vapour outflow to form a suction with heated coolant air (6), to draw fresh air (7) through the unit to cool the switches (3) on the inner side (1') of the cover (1). The fresh air (7) flows in through an upper opening (9) at the cover (1), to move past the switches (3) and out through a lower opening (11). Electronic switches (3) are connected at the inner side (1') of the cover (1) to the electrical conductors (2) by automatied fine soldering. The insulation (5) prevents or reduces heat penetration from the appliance (4) to the interior of the switch assembly and the switches (3). The lower edge surface (12) of the cover (1) has a step (13) to allow vapour and heated coolant air (6) to flow out of the appliance. ADVANTAGE - The assembly requires less space to contain the switch system indicator and wiring, to allow additional equipment at the rear of the switch unit. The thermal insulation also allows the use of electronic components and heat-sensitive plastics units.
