A rotor for a filter press, in which several filter plates are arranged in parallel adjacent to one another and traversed by a hollow shaft. Several rotor disks are rigidly fixed to hollow shaft. One rotor disk is always arranged between two adjacent filter plates and serves to smoothen the filter cakes which accumulate on adjacent filter plates. The rotor disks comprise circular support plates fixed to the hollow shaft, two pressure elements arranged on either side of pressure plates and devices to axially separate the pressure plates from the support plate by means of a fluid pressure medium supplied via the hollow shaft.
