The assembly to apply thermal handling to floury material, especially in mfg. cement clinker, has an additional third cyclone heating stage (III), next to the twin cyclone heating system, heated by exhaust gas from the clinker cooler (25) to process an additional material feed (20). The additional stage (III) has a calcinator (27) with secondary heating (26) to take material (28) from the second lowest cyclone stage (16) of the additional stage (III) and material (24) from the lowest cyclone stage (15) of the section (II) towards the additional stage (III). The preheated material from the stage (I) away from the additional stage (III) passes through a connecting channel (21) into the exhaust gas rising channel (22) from the rotary kiln into the lowest cyclone (15) of the other stage (II) in the twin assembly (I,II). The structure height of the cyclones of the additional stage (III) is higher than for the cyclones of the twin system (I,II). A partial material flow (32) from the second lowest cyclone (12) of the stage (I) away from the additional stage (III) passes to the lowest section of the neighbouring stage (II). The remaining material (32a) in the first stage (I) passes from the lowest cyclone (13) through a channel (33) directly into the rotary kiln (11). The twin stage system (I,II) together processes about 50% of the material, and the additional stage (III), together with the calcinator (27), processes the remaining 50% of the total raw material (18,19,20) to be heat treated. ADVANTAGE - The assembly can virtually double the productivity of a twin stage system, in terms of tons/day.
