PURPOSE:To provide a method and device for holding a cap made of a soft and elastic coronate member such as easily deformable rubber and felt to the predetermined form, and automatically assembling the cap. CONSTITUTION:A reversed cap 2 with a free end down is fed to and placed on expansion pieces 7. When a rod 10 ascends and a hook piece 11 releases the projections 7c of the expansion pieces 7, the ends 7a of the pieces 7 come to hook and expand the peripheral edge 2a of the cap 2, and are hooked in contact with a push plate 12 having an inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of a workpiece 4. Then, the workpiece 4 is fed and held with a workpiece holding means 5 in such a way that the cap mounting surface of the workpiece 4 comes approximately in close contact with the upper surface of the cap 2. Also, the push plate 12 ascends and the peripheral section 4a of the cap 2 is thereby pushed. The cap 2, therefore, comes in contact with the cap mounting surface of the workpiece 4 and is reversed. As a result, the cap 2 is released from may expansion pieces 7 and coupled to the workpiece 4. |
