PURPOSE:To lessen a shock when the face is brought into contact with an air bag and prevent an abrasion and a burn due to frictional heat by forming a nap in a face contact part of a filament cloth composing the air bag. CONSTITUTION:A cloth for air bag is comprised of the warp 1 and the weft 2 made of 6.6-nylon or 6-nylon, a coating layer 4 consisting of an elastomer such as synthetic rubber is provided on one side of the cloth. A non-coating surface on the reverse side of the coating layer 4 is napped by methods of card-cloth gigging, sanding, blasting off sand, a metallic or ceramic particle from a jet nozzle against the cloth, and the like. The length of the raised nap is set to 0.1mm or more and a nap density to 10 pieces/cm<2> or more. Consequently the surface of the face contact side of the air bag is softened to increase safety and the air bag of light weight having an excellent property to be housed can be provided. |
