PURPOSE:To obtain a refrigerating machine oil having excellent compatibility with a refrigerant containing trifluoromethane or pentafluoroethane, consisting essentially of an ester oil synthesized from a polyhydric alcohol and a monofunctional fatty acid. CONSTITUTION:A refrigerating machine oil consisting essentially of an ester oil synthesized from (A) 1-15C polyhydric alcohol such as neopentyl glycol or trimethylolpropane and (B) 3-12C monofunctional fatty acid such as propionic acid, butanoic acid or nonanoic acid, having excellent lubricating properties, thermal stability, electrical insulating properties and hydrolysis resistance. A refrigerating machine oil consisting essentially of a complex ester oil synthesized from the component A and a mixed carboxylic acid of the component B and 4-14C polybasic acid is preferable. |
