<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of the power source in the information processor by saving information, which needs to be saved for a resuming function, on a storage medium which does not depend upon the power source in the information processor. CONSTITUTION:The information processor consists of a CPU 1, a RAM 2, and various devices as principal constituent elements, registers which are used as temporary memories are incorporated in the CPU 1, and the devices are equipped with controller registers for controlling their operations. When the power source is turned OFF, the contents of the RAM 2 and controller registers are written on the storage medium 8 which does not depend upon the power source in the processor and then the contents of the CPU registers are saved on the storage medium 8 until the electric power is ceased. When the power source is turned ON, the CPU 1 is initialized and then the contents of the RAM 2 and controller registers which are stored on the storage medium 8 are read in the RAM 2 and controller registers again; and then the contents of the CPU registers saved on the storage medium 8 are loaded in the CPU registers, thus performing a resuming process.</p> |
