The thread monitor system, for a sewing machine with a double backstitch looper, has a control circuit (15) and a counter (22) for the main shaft (26). It counts the rotation for each intensity during the reception time of signals, and resets to a start value during a signal change to each other intensity. On registering a preset max. rotation rate, a thread break signal is generated.
