The fastener between frame bridge, side piece etc. and plastics lens is based on a hole drilled near the rim of the lens. A sleeve (5) designed as an expanding dowel is arranged concentrically within the lens hole (4) to take a connector (10). The interior of the sleeve is designed to connect the connector to the sleeve and otherwise exert radial pressure on the connector over parts of the sleeve. The spectacles mounting component (8) is joined to connector or sleeve. Pref. the connector is a screw which screws into a thread inside the sleeve and forces part of the sleeve onto the holed wall. USE/ADVANTAGE - Spectacles. Sleeve in hole with inserted connecting screw anchors frame part to lens by friction and wedge effect, with minimum effect on field of vision.
