A pharmaceutical composition comprising isocaproyl[Ala<7>, Aib<10,17>, Lys(For)<11,18>, Lys (desoxyfructosyl <24>)]-salmon calcitonin-(5-32) which, when administered transmucosally, e.g. orally, has potent hypocalcemic activity. The composition may comprise a bile acid as resorption enhancer, and may be in capsule or liquid form.
