Thermoplatic polycarbonate (I) comprise 0.01-10 wt.% polyalkylene oxides of formula (II); R = H, 1-6C alkyl, 5-6C cycoalkyl, tetrahydropyranyl or silyl; R' = H or 1-6C alkyl; X = 1-100; and 0.01-10 wt.% aromatic cpds. with isopropyl-substits. Also claimed are: (i) the mfr. of (I) by simultaneously or successively feeding the polyalkylene oxides and aromatic cpds. via the polycarbonate melt or soln. into an inert solvent, evaporating off the solvent, cooling and granulating followed by injection moulding to produce mouldings or casting to obtain films; (ii) stabiliser combinations of 0.01-10 wt.pts. (II) and 0.01 wt.pts. aromatic cpds. as above; (iv) polycarbonate mouldings. USE/ADVANTAGE - Mouldings of (I) are used in the mfr. of sterilisable equipment (claimed). (I) is stable against the effect of gamma irradiation.
