The magnetic tape cassette (1) for dictation equipment hs a tape position indicator using a pointer (2) in the cassette housing and two scales located at the windows (3.1) on each side of the cassette. For indicating in a linear way, proportional to time, the position of the tape, the pointer is mounted with its bearing (4) in a recess (5) of a slide (6) so that it can be moved in a longitudinal direction. The bearing lies against the tape on the drive spool (7) due to the force of the spring (23). The alteration in the diameter of the tape spool, detected by the bearing, is converted by the transmission gear (2,9,10) into a tape position indication. ADVANTAGE - Improvement in constancy and certainty of contact between pointer and tape on spool.
