The work cage has a platform (1) large enough for one or more people and surrounded by a roofed enclosure made from angle iron and wire mesh. The side walls (20) can be partially opened and at the front there is an entrance door (6) that can only be opened inwards. A system of micro-switches and electrical interlocks with the stacker controls prevents the work cage from being moved when the door or enclosure is open. If these are opened movement of the cage is immediately stopped. As a further safety measure the cage can be equipped with press button switches that must be held down by both hands of each occupant before the cage can be moved.
