Irreversible optical recording medium is based on a substrate with texturised surface and a metal or semiconductor film with an optical absorption of 5-95% and thickness of 10-50 nm. The novelty is that the texture consists of hemispherical structures, which change when exposed to light. The hemispherical structures are pref. arranged statistically and consist of raised or dented areas with a uniform dia. of over 200 nm and up to 500 nm or of different dia. values within this range.
