<p>A cassette 20 for a photographic element 56 of the kind used in computed radiography comprises a first cassette portion 22 and a second cassette portion 24 that are telescoped together during assembly to form the cassette 20. The first portion 22 has a rectangular panel 26 and edge walls 32,34,36 extending around three side edges of the panel 26. The second cassette portion 24 comprises a rectangular panel 50 on which the photographic element 56 is permanently secured. An edge wall 60 is attached to one side edge only of the rectangular panel 50 of the second cassette portion 24 and it extends between the edge walls 32,34 of the first cassette portion when the two portions 22 are assembled together. A locking mechanism carried by the cassette portions 22,24 holds them together in assembled relation but is easily released by an actuator 82 for removing the second cassette portion 24 and the photographic element 56 so they can be delivered together to a computed radiography reader. <IMAGE></p> |
