A colour scroller comprises a body (1), containing a pair of capstans (9), at each side arranged to be driven in alternate directions by a motor (11). The body (1) has a top member with an aperture to receive a gel string cassette (10), comprising a frame with a spool shaft (23) at each side. A gel string, being a strip of different coloured light-transmission filters is provided on the shafts (23) so as to be wound and unwound between the shafts, and the shafts are each received by a locating shaft (91) on a respective capstan (9), having a stud (92) to engage one of an array of recesses (34) in the base of each shaft for drive transmission. The cassette has studs (26) for latching and can be easily inserted and removed from the scroller body, and a leaf-spring mounted on one or each spool to tension the gel string. |
