<p>A process for the production of a substantially non-carcinogenic material from a reduced hydrocarbon crude feedstock, said material being selected from deasphalted oil and bright stock extract comprising: passing the reduced feedstock into a vacuum distillation column (2) wherein the feedstock is separated into at least one product of distillation and a vacuum residuum byproduct; and passing at least a fraction of said residuum byproduct through a selective solvent deasphalting unit (15) to produce a deasphalted raffinate and an asphaltenic extract, passing at least a fraction of said deasphalted raffinate through at least one selective solvent extraction unit (22) to reduce said deasphalted raffinate's aromatic content and to produce a bright stock and a bright stock extract.</p> |
