Hydraulically actuated building block system - is for workpiece clamping and has hydraulic interconnections moulded into clamping plate cast from mineral casting material

The workpiece clamping system has a clamping plate (1) with a rectangular or hexagonal array of locating holes (2) which accept hydraulically actuated clamping elements, adaptors and blanking-off plugs (3,4,5). The hydraulic fluid supply and interconnecting lines are moulded into the clamping plate, which is cast from a mineral casting material with a heat expansion coefficient equal to that of the workpiece material. The location holes are formed by casting in place bushes having oil passages and retaining undercuts. When the clamping elements, blanking-off plugs etc. are inserted in the location holes a direct connection is made with the interconnecting hydraulic lines in the clamping plate. USE/ADVANTAGE - Short set-up time. Accurate clamping. Simple design avoiding exposed hydraulic lines.
