The connection of two overlapping longitudinal portions (8, 9) of a tubular wrapping (2) defined by a sheet (4) of wrapping material wrapped about the product (3) inside a wrapping seat (7) is at least completed as the wrapped product (3) is unloaded from the wrapping seat (7) by a pusher (13) and heated counterpusher (14). Seat (7) is one of a number of radial seats provided in a wrapping wheel (5). The counterpusher (14) is electrically heated using a resistor (24) therein so as to heat seal the portions (8, 9) if the sheet (4) is of heat-sealable material, or to dry a layer of adhesive material between the portions (8, 9) if the sheet (4) is not heat-sealable.
