PURPOSE:To provide the automatic dimming device for the camera which performs invariably proper dimming regardless of the characteristics of a mounted photographic lens and is adaptive to a photographic lens to be put on the market in future. CONSTITUTION:This automatic dimming device is equipped with a flash light means 101 which can perform preliminary light emission and main light emission, a light measuring means 102 which divides luminous flux emitted by the flash light means 101 and reflected by a subject field into plural areas and measures the light, a 1st measured value correcting means 103 which corrects a light measurement output generated by measuring preliminarily emitted light by the shutter curtain surface reflection light measurement of the light measuring means 102 according to the characteristics of the mounted photographic lens, a 2nd measured value correcting means 104 which corrects a light measurement output generated by measuring main emitted light by the film surface reflection light measurement of the light measuring means 102 according to the characteristics of the mounted photographic lens, and a dimming control means 105 which stops the main light emission according to the outputs of the 1st and 2nd measured value correcting means 103 and 104. |
