A quasi push-pull single switch current-fed fly-back converter is used as the power supply for the magnetron of a microwave oven. A voltage doubler output circuit (22) has a high impedance. A small magnetic circuit includes a transformer (16) having a primary winding (15) in series with an IGBT switch means (17) and in series with an inductor (14). A single diode (18) is connected in series with the inductor (14). A secondary winding (20) is connected to the voltage doubler (22). A tertiary winding (21) is coupled to a pulse width modification, i.e. for controlling the conductor sequence of the IGBT (17). <IMAGE>
